Testimonials

"Dear Bam,

It's your boy Chris, the one you pulled aside.  I would like to give you a special thanks from my heart ...for your speech.  I've been trying to improve my behavior but it's not easy.  Hopefully you can come back to my school so we can talk again."

Our Expertise

"Dear Alex,

I don't know if you remember me or not but it's Adam, the kid you sat at the table with.  Before I walked into that prison I was saying "This trip is gonna be stupid" but I was wrong.  It was amazing.  Your story really reached me and told me the path I was on is the wrong path.  So I decided I did not want to go to prison or be homeless and not have nice things.  I stepped up, got into a program that will help meet better grades so I can have a good job when the time comes.  I wanted to let you know you made a difference in my life and I thank you for that."

"After almost two decades of mentoring at risk youth, the thing that stands out most to me is that  they don't see themselves as valuable.  Our greatest task is to get them to see the value in themselves that the teachers parents and loved ones see.

There are many people that are intricate in my transformation.  These people include many teachers from around the state, countless prison officials, my children, my brother Wesley Pennington, but the person that has had the most impact on me has been my wife Kelli.  She has supported me in any and all endeavors to reach the youth.

Upon my application of parole, I asked more for a chance to make a difference than a general release.  It is vital for anyone with a negative past to contribute and give back.  Speaking with the youth, not only comes easy but effects me as much as it effects them.

Most youth are clueless to the definition of victimization.

Victimization is To take away someones right their voice their choice their property and ultimately their life.

Objectification: Seeing others as objects rather that human beings and a real life with loved ones is the foundation of criminal thinking.

Social Disconnect: Where one thinks its okay to harm abuse or hurt another human being because you are both engaging in criminal activity.

These are a few of the topics I touch on during my visits."

An important note from Alex

Ask for help!

The one thing I was unable to do as a young man was ask for help.  There is always someone you can go to, a resource office a teacher a true friend a parents or friend's parent.  No one deserves to be abused. Don't be a victim, stand up for yourself.

For anyone that is confused, being abused, or doesn't know where to turn, feel free to contact us.  We can assist you in finding the right help.

Remember, you can't blame a single parent, geography or any circumstance that surrounds you for your outcome.  You can either use them as fuel to propel you or as an anchor to sink you. My brother and I had the same circumstance.  He is a state trooper and I went to prison for second degree murder.

At 6'5" 335 lbs and a third degree black belt, I realize that strength isn't measured by what you can lift or who you can impose your will on rather by what you can resist and what you're willing to stand up for.

the greatest reflection of love for your parents and for yourself is preserving your safety health and education through good decisions.
